What personal data we collect and why we collect it
By default, our website does not collect any personal data about our visitors. We do not allow comments on this site, and we do not allow any upload of media or other data.
We use basic SEO and analytics tools (YoastSEO, Akismet, Jetpack and Google Analytics) which collect data such as IP address, geolocation and platform. These tools do not collect personal data such as name or address as you will not be logged in to our site.
We only collect personal information about you during the form submission process on our site.
Contact forms
When you complete the contact form on our site, this form will be processed using Everest Forms. The form will collect the information requested – name and email address – and will link that to the subject and the text of your message. This data is used only for the purposes of responding to your enquiry. We will ask for your consent to send you marketing messages in relation to the subject area of your interest. If you consent, your name and email address data will be stored within the online Mailchimp application and may be used to send you newsletters or other information in the future. We may add additional fields to our form in the future in which case the fields will be clear to you and will be handled in the same way as detailed here.
The Everest Forms software will also automatically collect location, IP address and browser type. This data is used for geolocating users and reducing fraudulent activities and spam. We may also use cookies to keep track of form elements while you’re browsing our site.
Embedded Content
In principle, all of the content on this site is original but occasionally we may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We do not share your data with any third parties, except if you accept to receive newsletters from us, in which case your data will be held in our account with Mailchimp, and their privacy policy will apply.
Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Editors can access form submission information and other details related to it. Our team members have access to this information to help respond to your enquiry.
How long we retain your data
We keep your personal data for as long as necessary to deal with your enquiry – the time will depend on the nature of your enquiry. In the case of subscription to our newsletter, this will be until 6 months after you unsubscribe.
What rights you have over your data
Please email us if you wish to receive a copy of the data we hold about you or if you wish us to remove all such data before our normal deletion date.
Where your data is sent
If you are from the European Union or United Kingdom, you should be aware that your data may be used, stored and processed by us outside of the European Union and the UK. This is by nature of the fact that we are nomadic workers/cruisers and we travel around the world. In addition, our in-house web servers are in the United States. Our systems apply the same efforts to keep your data secure regardless of where that data is and no third party has access to it.
Contact information
For any privacy related concerns, or to request deletion of your data, please contact us by email or post at the addresses given at the top of this page.
